Whether the compression spring is in use or in consumption, its service life must be considered. Usually during use, we will shorten the service life of the compression spring due to improper use. The following are ways to increase the service life of compression springs:
1. Deformation heat treatment
Deformation heat treatment separates the deformation strengthening and heat treatment strengthening of steel, which can greatly improve the strength and toughness of steel. Deformation heat treatment can be divided into high temperature, medium temperature and low temperature. High temperature deformation heat treatment can be quenched immediately after deformation in a stable austenitic state, or it can be combined with forging or hot rolling, that is, quenching immediately after hot forming.
2. Isothermal quenching
Compression springs with small diameter or sufficient hardenability can be isothermally quenched, which can not only reduce the change of dead center, but also further improve the strength and toughness of the spring.
3. Low-temperature carbon-nitrogen co-penetration.
For helical compression springs, the combination of tempering and low-temperature carbonitriding (soft nitriding) can significantly improve their fatigue life and corrosion resistance.
